Divorce & Family Law Attorneys
Collaborative Attorneys. In Collaborative Law, each party has an attorney who makes a pledge to work towards resolution without resorting to adversarial means. The sole focus and goal of Collaborative Law attorneys is to help the parties reach a durable agreement.
Collaborative attorneys are advocates for their clients with the specific directive to assist clients in reaching an agreement that meets their client’s most important needs as best as circumstances permit. The style of advocacy for a Collaborative Law attorney is therefore very different from the style of advocacy of conventional attorneys.
As dispute resolution specialists, Collaborative lawyers jointly guide, manage, and facilitate the Collaborative Law process. Attorneys act as the legal counselors for their clients. Collaborative lawyers provide legal education, and ensure that all legal considerations are properly addressed.
All Collaborative attorneys who are members of King County Collaborative Law must meet minimum training requirements.

My goal of giving my clients respectful and compassionate guidance means that I make an honest effort to understand my clients circumstances, their hopes, and their preferred outcomes. I understand first-hand how hard divorce can be, and have seen how hard it is for a child. At times, disputes are so painful that clients feel compelled to escalate conflict. I listen carefully and deeply to my clients in order to achieve their long-term goals.

Collaborative law is a natural segue in a career of dispute resolution. Cases over the years have included general civil litigation, personal injury claims, some products liability cases and estate work, and the last 20 years of specialty work in all types of family law cases. Experience in mediation and arbitration naturally led to an interest in collaborative law and interactive participation in the healing process of resolution.

I am interested in helping families through one of the most difficult experiences they may have and to help minimize the impact of their divorce. I see preserving the relationships they have moving forward for the benefit of their children and themselves as paramount. I believe that people would like to make their own decisions in their divorce, not have a judge do so.
